Easy Cash Flow Management
It's easy to say you're going to stick to a budget—the hard part is doing it. Part of the problem is knowing exactly how much you have been spending and the other part is knowing what you have left to spend right now. Most personal finance software forces you to print reports and click down through layers of pie charts just to find out if you are on budget. MoneyWell is different. It makes it easy to track what you spend so you know your spending patterns and it tells you at a glance what you have available to spend today.
See What's Left to Spend
MoneyWell uses "buckets" to organize your transactions and show what you have left to spend. There are income buckets to track incoming money, expense buckets to hold outgoing transactions, and smart buckets for mixed views.
This is a variation of the tried and true envelope budgeting system, where you decide how much you're going to spend in each category, label envelopes with category names and amounts, divide your cash into each envelope, and then spend only as much money as you have in each envelope. With MoneyWell, the tedious process of managing paper envelopes is taken care of for you.
MoneyWell's buckets are very visual. When a bucket is empty, it tips over and dims in color. If you overspend, a large red exclamation point appears to warn you. This means that at a glance, you'll know exactly where you have money left to spend. It's all right there on the main window. No need to run a report or decipher complex charts. Even your daily account balance is just a glance away at the bottom of the MoneyWell window.
Drop-Dead Easy Cash Management
One of the biggest leaks in any spending plan is cash in your pocket. ATM withdrawals and cash back from purchases tends to get lost in the shuffle and you forget to track it. If you don't track everything you spend, you can't control your spending.
In MoneyWell, a single mouse click transfers that money to a special Cash Account where you can track all your cash transactions. This gives you the ability to assign buckets to every penny of pocket cash spent without affecting the reconcile process of your checking account.
Transfers to Any Account
MoneyWell lets you have as many accounts as you'd like in a single document and you can quickly transfer money between those accounts. Want to transfer some cash to savings? Drag your checking account to your savings account and enter an amount: Two linked transactions are automatically created with descriptive payee names. Try to do that with paper envelopes!
Single-Click Reconcile
Have you ever wished for an easier way to reconcile your bank statements? Your wish has just been granted! Click Reconcile and watch the Cash Flow Graph transform into a control panel for your reconcile process. Your transactions join in the transformation are color coded to show if they are open, reconciled, or out of the statement date range.
MoneyWell gives you other visual clues to make reconciling accounts quick and easy: If all the transactions in the date range match the statement total, MoneyWell points out that you can click one button to finish your reconcile. Simple, clean, and obvious.
And you never have to leave the reconcile view or switch windows to add, change, or delete transactions. The Transaction Detail never leaves your side.
